Burgess is named after the old
smuggler that lived at Trengove. This is a sunny bright single
storey cottage overlooking the central lawn and flower bed
in the courtyard. The property can be entered through the
back door which is only a few yards from the car park. This
leads into a carpeted passageway which takes you into the
rest of the property.
The living area has attractive wood effect flooring with
two comfortable settees, coffee table, colour television
and DVD player. The kitchen/dining area has cupboards with
striking tabasco coloured doors and a beech trim, where four
people can comfortably sit at a locally made pine table.
An arched doorway leads out of the living area on to the
open, predominantly south facing patio courtyard.
The compact bathroom has a shower, toilet, washbasin
and heated towel rail. On either side of this are two bedrooms,
carpeted throughout, one with twin beds and the other with
a king size bed. An interesting feature of this cottage are
the two tiny apertures with hand painted stained glass windows.
There is a separate laundry room a few yards away with washing machine and tumble dryer.
I enjoyed a week at Trengove Farm (Burgess Cottage) in May. The cottage was beautifully maintained with absolutely everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The whole complex of cottages is extremely well planned with a playing field for children running alongside.
Trengove Farm is just off the A30, so it provides easy access to all the main sites and attractions in that part of Cornwall. It is five minutes by car from the attractive small seaside village of Portreath. There is a store not far from the farm where all essentials can be found.
Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Richards for providing such a wonderful place for rest and relaxation.
