When you come to stay with us at Trengove Farm, we aim to help you have the most enjoyable holiday ever. In choosing and booking your holiday with us you give us information about yourself and the other people staying with you. We want you to know that we pay as much attention to looking after your data, as we do to looking after you while you’re here.

This document tells you what data we collect and why, what we do with it, and how you can find out what data we have about you, or get it changed or deleted if you want to. We may update this from time to time, so check back here if you have any questions.

The data we collect

Even before you book your holiday, you give us data that we look after carefully.

When you contact us, by email, the enquiry form on our website, phone us through a third party website, you’ll probably give us information such as your name, email address and/or phone number.

When you come to book, you’ll tell us more, usually including your address, and the names of the people who will be staying with you.

To enable online bookings we use cookies provided by Supercontrol.

To enable us to monitor the usage of our website and the success of our marketing, we use Google Analytics, which uses a variety of cookies. These are used to track visitors and collect information about how visitors use our site. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited.

Managing cookies

Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies and to delete cookies. The methods for doing so vary from browser to browser, and from version to version. Please check with your individual browser on how to accomplish this. You can find further information on managing cookies here… www.cookiesandyou.com.

Blocking all cookies may have a negative impact upon the usability of our website. If you block cookies, you may not be able to use all the features on our website.

Why we collect and store the data

We collect this data so that we can help you to enjoy your holiday. That includes communicating with you before your holiday starts, welcoming you to the farm, and staying in touch for a while after you’ve gone home. So some of the data is stuff we need to fulfil the contract you have with us, and some of it just helps us improve the experience for you, which we only collect with your consent.

We also use some of the browser information we collect to understand how people arrive at our website, and which bits of it they look at. We’re only interested in the overall patterns, not any individual’s browsing activity.
We might also use the information you’ve given us to tell you about news and special offers here at Trengove.  But we’ll only do that if you’ve said it’s OK for us to contact you in that way.

Where we store the data

All the data your give us is stored in properly managed and protected systems. This may include tools like Google Analytics for web browsing information, or Microsoft Outlook for email. We also use commercial software to manage all our bookings, which is also hosted in a professionally managed secure data centre.

It would be lovely to be able to say that all the systems we use are located in the UK (or even better, Cornwall!), but some of them such as Google and Microsoft operate internationally, and even UK systems may back up their data to countries outside the European Economic Area, but in compliance with EEA data regulations.

Sharing your data

We only share your data in very limited circumstances. The people who manage the software and review systems we use, can typically see the data held in those systems, but the contracts we have them prohibit them from misusing or passing on that data. We never sell your data to third parties.

How to find out what data we hold or get it changed or deleted

Just ask! Email us or write to us.  Tell us about any of your data that you’d like changed or deleted, and we’ll do it. It’s your data, after all!
